                                  COVID-19 Community Outreach Initiative

Definition

A rapid-response humanitarian program that provided critical preventive education and protective supplies to vulnerable communities in Yaoundé during the pandemic.

Objectives

  • Reduce COVID-19 transmission in high-risk areas

  • Provide free protective equipment to low-income households

  • Offer psychosocial support to alleviate pandemic-related anxiety

Key Interventions

  1. Preventive Education Campaigns

    • Door-to-door sensitization on:
      ✓ Proper handwashing techniques
      ✓ Social distancing protocols
      ✓ Correct mask usage

  2. Supply Distribution

    • 1,350+ hygiene kits delivered to households, including:
      • Face masks
      • Hand sanitizers
      • Detergents/soaps

  3. Mental Health Support

    • Counseling sessions addressing:
      • Fear of infection
      • Isolation challenges
      • Economic anxiety

  4. SOA

Documented Impact (2020)

  • 1,350+ individuals reached directly

  • 20 volunteers trained as community health educators
