Old People’s Home Visit Initiative
Definition
An annual humanitarian program providing essential care, companionship, and material support to elderly residents of care homes in Cameroon.
Objectives
Improve quality of life for abandoned/isolated seniors
Provide basic necessities and medical items
Combat loneliness through social interaction
Key Activities
Essential Care Services
Preparing and serving meals
Laundry and personal grooming assistance
Facility cleaning and maintenance
Material Support
Distribution of food supplies
Donation of hygiene products (soap, detergents)
Gift presentations (clothing, comfort items)
Social Engagement
One-on-one conversations and companionship
Recreational activities
Emotional support and counseling

50+ elderly residents served at St. Therese’s Home (Simbock, Yaoundé)
24-hour continuous care provided during visit
9 dedicated volunteers participated (including AVHF President)

Targets elderly who:

✓ Face mobility or health challenges
